Have You Seen It - A Free, Tiny Library

If you didn't know they existed, now you do.  You can find Little Free Libraries spread across the U.S. Check out this map to see if there is one near you.  Or, you can make your own!

Here's a little information about these tiny, free libraries

The first one was built by Todd Bol of Hudson, Wisconsin, in 2009.  To honor his mother, who was a teacher with a love for reading, he built a tiny one room school house and placed it in his front yard filled with books for his neighbors, or anyone passing by to take and enjoy.

At the end of the first year after the official launch of the Little Free Library initiative in 2010, there were just about 400 tiny libraries across the country.  That number quickly grew to a total of nearly 15,000 (and growing) in January 2014.  That is a tremendous growth!

So, what's the purpose of all these tiny libraries?  The goal is "To promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide and to build a sense of community as we share skills, creativity and wisdom across generations."
